Discussion
Diodia rogaguana Rusby, Mem. N. Y. Bot. Gard. 7: 380. 1927.
Schumann (Mart. Fl. Bras. 6(6): 10. 1888) places this species in his key to the group having “stilus superne clavatus vel capitatus apice integerrimus vel brevissime bilobus.” However, an examination of specimens throughout Brazil, Paraguay, and other parts of the range of this species indicates that the style is definitely bifid; therefore, D. multi flora should be placed in that part of the key in which the style is “apice solemniter bifidus ramis filiformibus.” On p. 27 of the same work, Schumann describes the style of this species as “apice sensim incrassato truncato,” but no material I have examined shows such a character. The type material of D. rogaguana Rusby likewise has linear or filiform style branches.
