Discussion
Type. In forest, Cordoba, Dagua Valley, Dept. El Valle, Colombia, alt 100 m, 6-8 May 1922, Ellsworth P. Killip 5140.
The marginal nerve of the leaf blade is conspicuously developed in this species, and the lateral nerves end at the marginal nerve, and do not anastomose; they are only slightly elevated below.
The type collection is in fruiting stage, and the few remaining hypanthia present are nearly glabrous or glabrate with a ciliate calyx margin. However, a near topotype (.Killip & Cuatrecasas 39029 from Dept. El Valle) has puberulent hypanthia and ciliate calyx margins, as are also shown in the collections of Haught 2083 and in the Venezuelan specimens. The stipular teeth in the type description are stated to be 7-14 mm long, and in the near topotype collection of Killip & Cuatrecasas 39029 attain 14-15 mm in length, but in the Haught 2083 specimen are 7-11 mm. In the Venezuelan collections the stipular teeth are 3.5-7 mm long.
