Type. Bahia, Brazil, Salzmann.
In the material I have examined the outer surface of the corolla is glabrous, while the pedicels are pubescent and the upper axes of the inflorescence are partially pubescent. In Bremekamp’s key (Rubiaceae in Fl. Suriname, p 225), it is stated that the “inflorescence and pedicels glabrous,” but on p 229 in the descriptive text, the pedicels are stated to be “puberulous.” Bremekamp correctly describes the corolla as externally glabrous, but Müller-Argoviensis [in Mart. Fl. Bras. 6(5): 387] describes the corolla as “extus brevissime furfurello-puberula.”
