    Type. Guettarda speciosa L.

    Only a few taxa of this genus fall within the geographical limits of the Guianas and Guayana Highland. However, as these taxa are related to others in areas outside these limits, I have in the following treatment included all those encountered in Venezuela, the Guianas, and in other countries involving related taxa.
