Discussion
Type. Forest on terra firma; climber, 5 m tall; corolla yellow, stamens yellow-white, vic Tatotobi, basin of Rio Demení, Amazonas, Brazil, 26 Feb 1969, G. T. Prance et al 10255 (holotype NY, isotypes US, IAN, K).
The variety obtusiuscula departs from the other varieties of Quapoya peruviana in its obtuse or sometimes barely acutish leaves. Otherwise in the species leaves are acuminate or sharply acute.
Since the var obtusiuscula is recorded only from the type collection, it is not known whether it establishes any discrete geographical range.
