Maguire, Cowan & Wurdack 29370; 30 km above Piedra Arauicaua, Río Yatua, B. Maguire, Wurdack & C. K. Maguire 41933, Camp 3, Río Yatua, B. Maguire, Wurdack & C. K. Maguire 42533; San Carlos, Río Negro, Ll. Williams 14638. BRAZIL. Amazonas, Rio Cauaburí, between Missão Salesiana and Serra Pirapucá, N. T. Silva & Brazão 60863. Also collected widely in western Amazonian Brazil and adjacent Colombia.

    Type. Brazil: Amazonas, Rio Uaupés, Panure, Spruce 2550 (holotype, B lost; isotypes, BM, C, F, G, GH, GOET, K, LD, LE, NY, P).

    This species is quite distinct by the elongated inflorescence and the rather small flowers.
