Description
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Rather widespread in the Amazon Basin and the Guianas; locally frequent at low and moderate elevations up to about 1000 m, in dense forests usually in rather well-drained places.

Type. Not designated.
Oenocarpus bacaba normally occurs in the hot lowlands but it may reach altitudes of about 1000 m. However, no specimens from greater altitudes are available.
