Description
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Widely spread in Central and South America, from Costa Rica southwards to Brazil, absent from the Andean Regions. Sporadically occurring in sandy savannas. VENEZUELA. Carabobo: valley of Vigirima, near Guagara, 500 m alt, Pittier 8167 (US); Guarico: between Calabozo and Carorla, 9 km SE of Calabozo, in savanna of the Biological Station of Llano, Bunting & Fernandez 3231 (MAR, NY).

Discussion
Type. Panama, Haenke (PR).
The collection of Bunting and Fernandez from the State of Guarico appears to be the second record of this species from Venezuela, after the historical collection of Pittier from Calabobo.
