Description
Latin Diagnosis - Rhizomata erecta, repentia, ca 2 mm diam, usque ad 5 cm longa, radicata, radicibus pilis brunneis mollibus dense vestitis, squamata, squamis 8 mm longis, 1 mm latis, clathratis, lanceolatis, apice filiformi brevi. Stipites obsoleti. Frondes usque ad 25 cm longae, laminis glabris, pallidis, pagina irregulari, inferiore solum, stomatibus magnis impressis praedita, laminis usque ad 5 cm latis, late oblanceolatis, costa straminea, prominula fere ad apicem, nervis occultis, areolas magnas, elongatas, hexagonas, usque ad 15 mm longas, 4 mm latas f orman tibus; indusia nulla; sori supra venis, in sulco vadosissimo lineares, valde flexuosi; sporangia subsessilia, globosa, annulo ex 11-15 cellulis formato, cellulis stomi minoribus sed similiter coloratis; sporae globoso-reniformes, ca 32 µ longae, 18 µ latae, laeves.
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Known only from the type material that was collected in the central portion of the Guayana Highland area.
