In a recent revision of the Brazilian species of Doryopteris, which includes a critique of Tryon’s revision, Brade (Arq. Jard. Bot. Rio Janeiro 18: 39-72. 1964) maintains D. bradei as distinct, but without elucidating any substantial reasons. He admits that varietal or subspecific rank might also be appropriate, since the principal difference is one of lamina lobing.
