Description
Species Description - This is the smallest form, tripinnate at base, but very reduced in size, the blades being only 5 to 8 cm long. The stipes are correspondingly short and delicate.

Discussion
Asplenium tenerrimum Mett. ex Kuhn, Linnaea 36: 97. 1869. Type: Colonia Tovar, Aragua, Venezuela, Fendler 368 (isotypes NY. US).
The varieties of Asplenium auritum Swartz and A. cuspidatum Lamarck as represented in Venezuela can be approximately distinguished by the following key, although additional varieties might very well be recognized in a monographic study.

Venezuela and Colombia. In Venezuela it is known by the following recent collections: Fila La Enjalma, south of Chivacoa, Yaracuy, 500m, Vareschi & Pannier 2629. Montana de Aguacate, between Caripe and Caripito, Monagas, 600-900 m, Steyermark 62209 (NY, US).
