    Distribution and Ecology - BRITISH GUIANA. Basin of Essequibo River, near the mouth of Onoro Creek, lat. about F 35'N., epiphyte in swamp, December 15-24, 1937, A. C. Smith 2790 (sterile; aff. D. muncata (Sw.) Lindl.) ; Kaieteur Plateau, rare epiphyte, Maguire 23343 (flower poor) ; Potaro River gorge, in high mixed forest, locally frequent, on moist rock surfaces. May 17, 1944, B. Maguire & D. B. Fanshawe 23531 (sterile; aff. 1). muricata (Sw.) Lindl.). SURINAM. Tafelberg, at the base of south escarpment Arrowhead Basin, 625 m alt., frequent epiphyte in high forest, August 26, 1944, B. Maguire 24522 (old fruit). VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Chimantd Massif, at southwestern edge of Apacara-tepui, in vicinity of Camp 4, 1600-1800 m alt., epiphyte on mossy branch in moist mossy forest, leaves membranaceous, rich green, April 15, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 75030 (withered flower on muricate ovary; aff. D. acuminata Schltr.); Chimanta Massif, on northwestern part of Abacapa-tepui, in vicinity of Camp 3, 1300 m alt., on forested slopes adjacent to quebrada, pendent from mossy branch, leaves dull olive green, "flower with pale green sepals and with lateral petals marked near tips with dull pale lavender; lip creamy," April 20, 1953, Steyermark 75219 (no good flower present; aff. D. anguina Schlechter); road south from El Dorado, 22 km beyond Camp Km 88 (aff. D. picta Reichb. f.).
