Distribution and Ecology - BRITISH GUIANA. Upper Rupununi River near Dadanawa, lat. 2°45'N., epiphytic, flower brown and yellow, May 28, 1922, J. S. De La Cruz 1376; same locality, flowers yellow, June 13, 1922, De La Cruz 1516; Kamakusa, upper Mazaruni River, long, about 59°50'W., flowers cream-color and purple, July 11-23, 1923, De La Cruz 4147; upper Mazaruni River, Membaru Creek, terrestrial, flowers yellow-green with brown spots, February 13, 1939, A. S. Pinkus 207. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: El Dorado-Sta. Elena road, 97 km south of El Dorado, terrestrial in grass in light scrubby brush, in thin capping of soil above hard rock slab. G. C. K. Dunstennlle 407; 102-120 km from El Dorado near Sta. Elena, very abundant terrestrial in moist, warm woods (between shady and sunny), flowers yellowish green with purple spots, December 29, 1956, E. Foldats 2668; high road to El Dorado, near K m 88, L. Aristeguieta 3711; on Auydn-tepui, 1100 m alt., Vareschi & Foldats 4588. BRAZIL and PERU. The origin of the type was uncertain.
