    Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Auyán-tepuí, F. Cardona 247, 254; Mt. Roraima, on forested southwest-facing quebrada near Rondon Camp, 2040 m alt., terrestrial, sepals and petals dull pink, lip deep orchid-rose, September 25, 1944, J. A. Steyermark 58650; Sororopdn-tepui, on crest of cerro between east and west ends, 2255 m alt., terrestrial near streamlet, leaves erect and firml) membranaceous, rich green above and paler beneath, "Sepals and petals pink-orchid below, upper half deep rose-orchid; lip deep purple-orchid with creamy-white crest," November 14, 1944, Steyermark 60145. A widespread and variable species ranging from Florida (U.S.A.), through Middle America to northern South America. Limodorwn purpureum was noted as native to the Antilles and the warm parts of America.
