Eugenia vismeaefolia Benth., Jour. Bot. Hook. 2: 320. 18
For description see Amshoff (Fl. Suriname 3(2): 110. 1951). The species was based on a cohection made by Schomburgk on the Rio Quitaro, British Guiana; no number was cited in the protologue, but the specimen under this name in Bentham's herbarium (K), bears the number 549; another sheet of the same number, named by Berg, is at W . Amshoff cites a number of collections from Suriname.
The fohowing cohection may be referred here for the present; the leaves are 10- 15 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, sharply acuminate, but the petioles quite glabrous in a fruiting specimen, and the leaves rounded rather than subcordate at base: BRITISH GUIANA. Kaieteur Plateau, Potaro River above Kaiatuk, 10 M a y 1944 (fr) Maguire & Fanshawe 23347 (MICH).
