  • Discussion

At the time of publication this species was compared with C. muUiflora Berg, which it much resembles. At that time, however, neither species was known from fruiting material. The fruit of C. muUiflora is described below. It now appears that the two large-leaved, large-fruited specimens I described in 1958 as possibly referable to C. muUiflora (Mem. N . Y. Bot. Gard. 10(1): 73-74. 1958), belong actually to C. florifera. The fruit is globose or oblate, 1-1.5 cm in diam, almost twice as large as that of C. muUiflora. The leaves of the two specimens in question {Maguire & Politi 28385; Maguire & Wurdack 34731) are larger than usual for C. muUiflora, but no larger than those of Wurdack & Adderley 43644, a fine flowering specimen of C. florifera. The leaves in all these range in length from 6-12 cm, and in width from 3-5 cm. V E N E Z U E L A .
