Species Description - Tree 10-30 m tall, the trunk 25-35 cm diameter, the branchlets densely microscopically puberulous but soon glabrescent, the hairs peltate, the stalk 0.04 mm long, composed of 1 or 2 cells, the disc 0.044-0.066 mm diameter; stipules caducous to deciduous, triangular, 0.4-0.8 mm long, micro-puberulous externally, the hairs peltate; petioles terete, (3-)5.5-7.5(-10) cm long, microscopically puberulous densely, the hairs peltate, glabrescent; rachis terete (9-) 16.5-22(-26) cm long, densely micro-puberulous, glabrescent; leaflets (3-)4-6-(-7-) jugate, the petiolules (4-)6-9(-11) mm long, the blades (6-) 12-18(-20.5) cm long, (2-)5-7(-8.5) cm wide, elliptic to oblong-elliptic or ovate, the base of the mature leaflets rounded but cuneate at the petiolule, the apex acuminate to long-acuminate, glabrous on the upper surface, densely microscopically puberulous beneath, the hairs peltate, ca 0.05 mm long and in diameter, the venation obscure to subobscure on the upper surface, the costa plane or impressed and the primary veins plane or slightly salient, prominulous beneath, the costa salient and the primaries plane to slightly salient; inflorescence racemose, cauligerous, ramigerous, or ramuligerous, rarely axillary, 6-25 cm long, the axis densely microscopically puberulous, the hairs peltate, the bracts 0.4-1 mm long, triangular, persistent, the bracteoles arising one-half to three-fourths the distance from the pedicel base, 0.4-1 mm long, persistent; pedicels 4-7 mm long, densely puberulous microscopically; buds globose or depressed-globose, 4.5-6(-10) mm diameter, smooth or more or less verruculose and densely micro-puberulous; calyx segments 5, micro-puberulous externally, glabrous on the inner surfaces; petal white, glabrous, the claw 4-5 mm long, the blade obovate, ca 10 mm long and wide; larger stamens 2, glabrous, the filaments ca 15 mm long, the anthers oblong, 1-1.5 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide, the smaller stamens glabrous, the filaments 5-7 mm long, the anthers suboblate; gynoecium glabrous or densely micro-puberulous, the hairs peltate, ca 0.05 mm long, the stigma capitellate, the style 3.5-5 mm long or longer, the ovary 4.5-5 mm long, 2 mm wide, elliptic, abruptly curved apically, the gynophore 5.5 mm long; fruit elliptic to oblong-obovate or oblanceolate in outline, elliptic in cross-section, glabrous, 5.5-6.5 cm long, 3 cm wide, the stipe 8-11 mm long; seeds 1 per fruit, the aril fimbriate.

Distribution
(Fig. 13). Riverine forest in southeastern Colombia, northwestern Brazil, southern Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname, ca 100-510 m alt.
