    Trichomanes filiforme Sturm in Mart., Fl Bras. 1(2): 269, /. 18, f 4. 1859. Type. Near Sao de Cachoeira, Est. Amazonas, Spruce 2278 (holotype BR not seen photo 4798; isotypes K not seen photos 19144, 19145, US).

    Trichomanes gemmatum J. Smith ex Hook. & Bak., Syn. Fil. ed. 1: 87. 1867, nom. superfl. on the type of Trichomanes cellulosum Klotzsch, which was cited in synonymy.

    Type. Canuku Mountains, Guyana, Rich. Schomburgk 1186 (holotype B not seen).

    The lamina segments are c o m m o n l y narrower in specimens from the Guayana Highland than they are in specimens from farther west in Colombia and from Peru.
