  • Discussion

Type. Guardia de San Agustin prope Caripe, | Estado Monagas] Venezuela Moritz 468.

The persistent elongate calyx-tube crowning the fruit, combined with the solitary pedicels or 2-3-flowered inflorescence, distinguishes this species from the shorter-crowned fruit, and more numerously flowered inflorescence of F. occidentalis. It is questionable whether the Funck & Schlim 632 and the Funck s.n. specimens were actually collected in Colombia, or more probably in Venezuela
