    Many of the specimens cited above from British Guiana and buriname (Bull. Torrey Club 75 : 572. 1948) were identified by Standley as “Ixora orinocemis Spruce,” an unpublished manuscript name of Spruce. As indicated in the discussion under I. acuminatissima Mull.-Arg., an examination of the specimens with Spruce's manuscript name of “Ixora orinocensis (Spruce 8234. 3675 )shows that they are conspecific with I. acuminatissima (I. gaillardii Standley) and should not be identified with I. ulei, as Standley attempted.
