  • Discussion

Sabicea glabrescens Benth. var oblongijolia (Miq.) Sandwith, Kew Bull. 1939: 12. 1939. Sabicea velutina Benth. var oblongifolia Miq., Linnaea 18: 615, 735. 1844.

Lectotype. Miquel s.n., Suriname at Kew Herbarium.

As noted above, Wernham confused this taxon with true S. velutina Benth. I have seen the specimens from Kew Herbarium (Focke and Miquel from Suriname, Robert Schomburgk 901, second collection, and Richard Schomburgk 1333 from British Guiana), originally misidentified by Wernham as S. velutina, and later identified by Sandwith as S. glabrescens var oblongifolia.

I have taken the Miquel collection at Kew as the lectotype.
