Utricularia fontana St. Hil. & Girard, Ann. Sri. Nat. II. 11: 163. 1839. Type. Brazil, S. Paulo, St. Hilaire (P).

Utricularia gomezii A. DC. in DC., Prodr. 8: 13. 1844. Type. Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Gomez (G, K).

Utricularia globulariifolia Mart, ex Benj., Mart. Fl. Bras. 10: 241. 1847. Types. Brazil, Gardner 590 (K), Schott (W) Martins (?M).

Type. Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, St. Hilaire (holotype P).

I believe these two specimens are correctly placed under this species although the flowers are somewhat smaller than most examples from elsewhere in its range. In this respect they are more or less intermediate with U. amethystina which also occurs in this locality.
