Description
Latin Diagnosis - G. guianensi N. E. Brown affinis sed floribus multo minoribus, planta minore graciliore glaberrima differt. Herba terrestris; folia dense rosulata, obovato-spatulata, longe petiolata, tota 1—4 cm longa, lamina usque 1.2 mm lata; inflorescentia erecta, glabra, usque 18 cm alta 2-4-flora; scapus rectis vel flexuosus, gracilis, purpureoniger; squamae 2-3, lanceolatae, acutae, 1-1.5 mm longae; braeteae et bracteolae inter se similes, lanceolatae, acutae, circiter 1 mm longae; pedicellis capillares, erecti, sub anthesi circiter 3 mm, sub fructu 8-15 mm longi; calycis lobi 5, subaequales. lanceolati, acuti, sub anthesi circiter 1.5 mm longi, sub fructu paullo longiores; corolla lila-cina, circiter 7 mm longa; labium superius late ovatum, apice rotundatum, circiter 3 mm latum; labium inferius trilobum, lobis lateralibus lobo medio subbrevioribus, circiter 4 mm longum, circiter 5 mm latum, calcari late truncato-conico labio inferiori subaequilongo; capsula globosa, glabra, 2 mm diametro.

Discussion
Type. Venezuela, Bolivar: Chimanta Massif, east-central portion of summit of Apacara-tepui. alt 2450-2500 m, wet ground in large swamp of composite (Chimantaea mirabilis) ; corolla lilac with deeper purple ring around crest of lower lip, June 21-22, 1953, Steyermark 75911 (holotype NY, isotypes F, VEN).
The material is scanty but the violet flowers coupled with completely glabrous inflorescence distinguish this species from all others in the genus.

Distribution
At present known only from the type specimen and the following. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Chimanta Massif, Torono-tepui, summit, at edge of escarpment in and among zanjones, alt 2165-2180 m, Steyermark & Wurdack 631 (K,NY).
