Description
Species Description - Mature fruits more or less globose, or rather ellipsoid, mucronate at apex, small, about 3 cm long and 2 cm broad; shell very thin, fleshy, less than 0.75 mm thick; testa crustaceous; seeds 2, more or less discoid, about 16 mm long, 12 mm broad and 4 mm thick; fruit-pedicels about 2 mm in diam (Oliveira 247 and others). Fruits and seeds resemble those of S. guianensis but are larger.

Discussion
All specimens examined from Brazil were collected in the high forest on terra firme; those in flower from late in May to early July. Forest Dept. 2279 and 2303 are vouchers for samples of bark on which Dr. King carried out chemical work (7a: 65).
