    Species Description - Mature flowers and fruits recently became available and are described here for the first time. Flowers sessile, bracts 2.5-3 mm x 1.2-1.6 mm, ovate or ovate-acuminate, puberulent distally, closely embracing the calyx; calyx minutely puberulent, 2.4 mm long, the lobes ovate, obtuse, 1.8 x 1 mm; corolla 6 mm long, the tube 2 mm long, the broadly lanceolate, recurved lobes 3 x 1.2 mm; corolla minutely papillose externally, the tube rather densely pilosolous within except for a glabrous area at extreme base, the lobes within densely bearded in lower 2/3, glabrous and papillose distally (Rodrigues 537 and Ducke 2150). Fruits more or less globose, small, the largest examined, 2.5 cm in diam; shell very thin, about 0.75 mm thick (the exocarp very thin and the mesocarp better developed) yellowish, shining, smooth; testa crustaceous; seeds 1 or 2, more or less discoid, about 15 mm long, 11 mm broad and 3 mm thick; fruit-pedicels about 2.5 mm in diam (Ducke 2150 and others).

    Rodrigues 537 and Duche 2150 both have the same remarkable broad bracts closely investing each individual flower.
