Discussion
N. T. Silva et al. 60734 is of a very interesting form, already represented in herbaria by Froes 21528 and 21281 (see 7a: 59). The first record of the species from the Territory of Amapá and from the basin of Rio Madeira in the State of Amazonas, Brazil. The collectors state on the label (Maguire et al. 56059): “locally frequent in varzea forest.” Practically all other examined specimens are from the high forest on terra firme. This bush-rope reaches huge dimensions. Mature flowers were collected near Manaus in March and near Pará in April. Prance 3934 is a voucher for a sample of root bark sent to Prof. Marini-Bettolo for chemical studies.
