  • Discussion

Strychnos jobertiana is a giant bush-rope confined to the high forest on terra firme. This species (root bark of Prance & Silva 58713) was studied by Prof. Marini-Bettolo and his co-workers. Only tertiary alkaloids were found and identified as diaboline and o-acetyl-diaboline B. The latter, although previously known in synthetic form, was found for the first time in a plant and was named Jobertine (109d).
