  • Authority

Maguire, Bassett. 1967. The botany of the Guayana Highland--Part VII. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 17: 1-439.

  • Family

    Euphorbiaceae

  • Scientific Name

    Pera distichophylla (Mart.) Baill.

  • Description

Species Description - Although neither Pax nor I have seen the type of Pera heterodoxa Mull.-Arg., the original description: "Limbus subtus secus costas et costulas majores hinc inde glandulis patellaribus parvis fusco-ostiolatic auctus" and the occurrence: "in silvis Amazonicis: Martius" make it very probable that it is identical with P. distichophylla. The only distinction given is the bisexuality of the involucrum, a character not at all stable. The holotype type of P. heterodoxa is in Munchen (M), photo in New York (NY).
