Discussion
Antidesma triplinervium Spreng., Neue Entdeck. 2: 116. 1S21.
Alchornea glandulosa var ? parvijolia Benth, Jour. Bot. «& Ivew Misc. 6: 330. 1S54. Alchornea triplinervia var laevigata Mull.-Arg. in DC., Prodr. 15(2): 910. 1866.
Type. All that Sprengel says about the type is: “In Brasilia,” It is possible that Miiller-Argoviensis meant the type by saying: “In Brasilia prope Rio de Janeiro in Serra do Mar (Sello: Gardn. 617) ” Search for the type has to continue.
Alchornea glandulosa var ? parvifolia Benth. (Jour. Bot. & Kew Misc. 6: 330. 1854) based on type: “San Gabriel de Cachoeira on the Rio Negro, Spruce 2117,” later renamed A. triplinervia var laevigata Mull.-Arg. [Prodr. 15(2) : 910. 1866] has been included here as synonym of A. triplinervia. The extreme variability in size of leaves has caused the creation of many unnecessary new names.
