  • Discussion

Type. Habitat in sylvis remotis Sinemariensibus (BM). Photo of type in NY. (River Sinnemary W of Cayenne.)

The size and thickness of the mesocarp shows much variation. The binomials, Amanoa macrocwpa Cuatr. (Colombia), A. grandiflora Mull.-Arg. (Suriname, British Guiana) and A. robusto Carlos Leal (Manaos), types of which I have not seen, may be synonyms of A. guianensis. The diagnoses of these species indicate that they must be conspecific with A. guianensis, unless the types disclose differences not mentioned in the diagnoses.
