Description
Distribution and Ecology - Large sedge in forest swamp in northeastern tropical South America from eastern Bolivar of Venezuela through the Guianas south-eastwards to Amapa State of Brazil; one isolated station in Santo Domingo. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Sierra de Lema, Rio Chicanan, 80 km SE of El Dorado, alt 500 m, Steyermark 89528; Alto Rio Cuyuni, summit of north portion of Cerro Uroi, Rio Uroi, alt 700 m, Maguire, Steyermark & Maguire 53784; 10-15 km below Cerro Escalera, Rio Uiri-yuk, frequent herb in swampy forest, alt 100 m, Maguire, Steyermark & Maguire 46778; Rio Uiri-yuk, rare in montane forest between base of La Escalera and Base Camp, alt 150-550 m, Maguire, Steyermark & Maguire 46944. BRITISH GUIANA.
