  1. Stizophyllum riparium (Humboldt, Bonpland & Kunth) Sandwith, Lilloa 3: 462. 1938. Bignonia riparia H.B.K., Nov. Gen. Sp. Pl. 3: 138. 1819. Type. Colombia, Rio Magdalena, Humboldt & Bonpland sn (P). This heterogeneous species perhaps should be subdivided. The Venezuelan material differs somewhat from typical Panamanian and Colombian specimens but more material is needed.
