Bot. Ges. 34: 739. 1916. Lectotype. P. jucundum (Bur. & K. Schum.) Urb. =A. jucundum Bur. & K. Schum. This genus is especially well-characterized by its stipitate oblong-elliptic or suborbicular or ellipsoidal fruit. The ovary likewise is stipitate and the disc conical. Its yellow or cream flowers are of the "Anemopaegma-type.'' The genus occurs throughout continental tropical America. Four species have been collected in the Guayana Highland.
