    Species Description - Tree to 15 m in height; bark exudate yellow, viscous; branchlets completely glabrous. Leaves distichous, glabrous, coriaceous, lanceolate-elliptic, lanceolateovate, or rarely lanceolate, widest below the middle or at the middle, (1.7-)2.2-2.8(-3.2) times longer than wide, (8-)10-18(-24) cm long, (4-)5.5-9(-11) cm wide, the base obtuse, rounded, or subcordate, the top acute, sometimes shortly (0.5 cm) acuminate, the margin even or subrevolute, the midrib slightly sunken above and elevated beneath, nerves 9-14 pairs, translucent dots nearly constantly present; petioles glabrous, 0.7-1.2 cm long. Inflorescences terminal and in upper leaf axils, 4-12-flowered, 1.5-3 cm long panicles or racemes, bracts and bracteoles lanceolate, about 1 mm long, with ciliate margins, inflorescences otherwise glabrous, the bracteoles inserted in the lower half of the pedicels, pedicels 2-3 mm long. Flower buds ellipsoid, before anthesis 10-12 mm long, sepals coriaceous, outside glabrous, cihate at the margin, inside strigillate, obtuse, free lobes about 2 mm wide at the base and 1.5 mm long, petals oblong, about 1.5 cm long, ovary glabrous. Capsule trigono-(ob)ovate, acute at the top and the base, or prolonged in a beak at one or both ends, slightly curved, outside smooth, glabrous, and shining, 4-6.5 cm long, with 1 fertile cell, exocarp not separable from endocarp, the seed trigonous-fusiform or slightly complanate, curved, not winged, to 4 cm long.

The annotations are written in the handwriting of L. CI. Richard who, on his travel to French Guiana, also visited Pará.
