  • Discussion

Phoradendron trinervium (Lamarck) Grisebach, Fl. Brit. W. Ind. Isl. 314. 1860. Viscum trinervium Lam., Encyc. 3: 57. 1789. The specimen at hand leaves some doubt as to the soundness of the identification, but I do not know other species to ascribe it. The common P. rubrum (L.) Gris. is decidedly different. P. trinervium, previously merged into the latter and subsequently restored by Trelease, shows itself widely spread in the West Indies; recently, I have been given a typical collection from Venezuela. The present specimen differs from typical ones in having fruiting spikes only 5-8 mm long endowed with articles only 6-flowered; leaves along with fruits may be said to be characteristic. Perhaps we are facing a new variety, but the specimen is too meagre to grant a suitable analysis.
