Description
Species Description - Plants in loose tufts to 2 cm tall, green to olive-green above, brown to almost black below; rhizoids well developed, extending some way up the stems. Leaves spreading when moist, appressed and almost erect when dry, somewhat more open below capsules, ovate-lanceolate, long acuminate, 2.5-3.5 × 0.6-0.8 mm; costa ending shortly below the apex; margins entire, broadly revolute almost from base to apex; basal leaf cells 40-90 × 11-14 µm, elongate rectangular to rhomboidal, thick-walled, somewhat nodose, smooth; alar cells slightly diflferentiated, forming small auricles with a row of almost quadrate cells along the margins; upper leaf cells 9-14 x 8-12 µm., isodiametric to short elongate, rounded, fairly thick-walled, with 2-3 mostly branched, 3.5-7 µm tall papillae per cell. Goniautoicous. Perichaetial leaves not differentiated. Capsules immersed, rarely just emergent, ovoid to oblong-ovoid, with eight short furrows and not constricted below the mouth when dry; exothecial cells not or only diflferentiated in upper parts of capsules, below the mouth with several rows of smaller, rounded cells; stomata superficial, few, in lower parts of capsules only; peristome single, preperistome not observed; exostome teeth 16, reflexed when dry, hyaline, yellow or pale brown, roughly papillose with well developed ridges along the old cell walls; operculum flat conic with short obtuse apiculus. Spores globose, 21-24(-26) µm, densely or openly papillose, red-brown. Vaginula sometimes hairy. Calyptrae conic-oblong, pUcate, yellow with red-brown apex, with few scattered pale yellow, papillose hairs.

Discussion
Type: ARGENTINA. Patagonia, Chubut, Valle 16. de Octobre, 6 Nov 1908, Skottsberg s.n. (lectotype pc; isotype s).
Illustrations: Figures 25-37.
Variation: In the protologue the spore diameter is given as ca. 15 µm which is considerably smaller than in the other collections. The spores ofthe type specimen seem, however, to be immature many are collapsed and very pale. This might account for the smaller size.
Differentiation: In general appearance O. anaglyptodon resembles O. rupestre but diflfers in reflexed, not spreading, dry exostomes, which are more roughly papillose, and the only slightly differentiated exothecial cells.
