var. wrightii, though traditionally recognized at the species level, cannot be consistently separated from the other varieties of F. ciliaris. It differs from the var. ciliaris in narrower, gradually acuminate leaves. A t times these two taxa are difficult to separate because ofthe long-acuminate apices of the leaves. The var. polycarpa is usually much broaderleaved with more or less entire margins and shorter leaf apices.
