Description
Species Description - Stems irregularly branched. Leaves appressed and ± secund when dry, loosely appressed when moist, broadly ovate, acuminate, biphcate at base; margins serrulate, somewhat recurved at base; costa somewhat roughened at back, ending near the apex; upper cells rhombic, up to about 2:1, slightly papillose at back because of thickened upper ends; basal marginal cells subquadrate. Setae about 8 mm long, reddish; capsules slightly inclined, cylindric, ca. 2 mm long, pale-brown; annulus none; exostome teeth papillose throughout; segments of endostome about as long as the teeth, linear, papillose. Spores 18-21 µm, finely papillose.

The species of Lindbergia differ in having endostome segments none or very short and leaves wide-spreading when moist.

Distribution
On trees, about 3000-3200 malt.; Distrito Federal and Mexico; reported from Jalisco (De Luna 1984). Mexico; Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
