Description
Species Description - Plants slender, yellow-green. Stems irregularly pinnate, up to 4 cm long and (with leaves) as much as 5 mm wide, often bearing axillary clusters of hyaline brood filaments. Leaves often twisted when dry, 1.5-3 mm long, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic, often ± curved-asymmetric and ± curved-acuminate; margins serrulate above the middle; costae slender, up to 1/2 the leaf length; upper median cells rhomboidal, 6-15:1, the apical cells somewhat shorter. Autoicous. Setae slender, 3-4 mm long, coarsely hyaline-papillose; exostome teeth yellowish to cinnamon-colored. Spores 10-15 µm. Calyptrae ± scaly above, laciniate at base.

Distribution
On moist rocks at rather low altitudes; San Luis Potosi and Veracruz.—Mexico; Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama; northern South America.
