    Species Description - Plants rather robust, green or yellow-green, glossy. Stems brittle when dry, simple or sparsely branched, up to 5 cm long, (with leaves) up to 6 mm wide. Leaves often twisted when dry, frequently decurved at the tips, 2.5-4 mm long, elliptic or oblong, mostly acuminate; margins sharply serrate above the middle, the teeth long, sometimes 2-celled, occasionally double; costae unequal, up to half the leaf length, occasionally bearing septate brood filaments on the lower surface; upper median cells smooth, sometimes in horizontal or oblique rows, 2-5:1, short-rhomboidal, the apical cells shorter, the marginal cells linear in an indistinct border of 1-2 rows. Setae up to 6.5 mm long, papillose throughout; capsules erect, cylindric, with a noticeable neck when dry; exostome teeth whitish. Spores 18-22 µm, smooth.
