    Species Description - Lianas, often armed. Branches terete. Leaves: petiole 0.8- 2 cm long, the stipular sheath 4-7 mm long, the wings to 2mm wide; blade chartaceous, narrowly ovate to ovate, 14-16 X 8.5-11 cm, those on fertile branches lanceolate, 7-21 X 1.3-4.5 cm, the base obtuse, rounded, or cordate, the apex acute, obtuse, or acuminate; principal veins 3—7, impressed or flattened adaxially, mostly prominent abaxially, the secondary venation reticulate, flattened to prominulous adaxially, prominulous abaxially, the tertiary and higher order venation random-reticulate. Inflorescence usually a paniculate arrangement of umbels, with foliaceous to reduced bracts; peduncle 0.5-2.5 cm long; pedicels 4-10 mm long. Staminate flowers: tepals narrowly elliptic, 2 X 0.8-2 mm; stamens 6, the filaments thick, 0.4-0.5 mm long, the anthers 0.4-0.5 mm long, curved apically; pistillode lacking. Pistillate flowers not seen. Berries globose to ellipsoid, 1-1.5 cm diam., turning orangered when ripe.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Dec, Jan), fr (mostly Jun-Sep); nonflooded forest, especially along roadsides and in secondary vegetation, 200 to 400 m. Liane bagou.
