    Species Description - Coarse, caespitose perennials 100-150 cm tall. Leaves glabrous; blade 35-70 X 1-2.5 cm. Inflorescences 13-32 cm long, of 8-17 ascending to spreading racemes 6—20 cm long. Spikelets 2.4-3 mm long, plano-convex, obovate, brownishgray, fringed with silky hairs near acute apex.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fr (Jan, Jun, Nov, but probably year round); very common weed, often forming dense stands in disturbed areas.
