    Species Description - Caespitose perennials, erect at first, becoming scandent with age; culms to 6 m long, sometimes high-climbing. Leaves: blade 10-35 X 2-9 cm, rounded basally. Inflorescences 13-20 cm long. Pistillate spikelets with glumes 15- 23 mm long; florets 5-6 mm long, ovoid, shining, smooth. Staminate spikelets 6-8 mm long.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fl (mostly June-Nov), fr (Jan, Jul, Dec, Jan); common, along forest margins and in gaps. Calimez, calumet.
