    Species Description - Caespitose perennials 1-2 m tall. Leaves: blade 23-30 X 5-8 cm. Inflorescences 15-20 cm long. Pistillate spikelets with glumes 35-45 mm long including long, scissors-like awn 20-35 mm long; florets 6-9 X 3.5-5 mm, ovoid, shining, smooth. Male spikelets 3.5-5.5 mm long. Fr (Jan, Sep); forest understory, Mont Galbao.
