Description
Species Description - Differing from S. nigricans by leaves of stoloniferous stems long, tortuous-acuminate and coarsely recurved-dentate at margins ofthe acumina; branch leaves closely imbricate, deeply concave, and abruptly short-acute to cuspidate, with alar cells quadrate to oblate-rectangular and thick-walled; shortly exserted capsules; densely papillose exostome teeth; and densely and coarsely hairy calyptrae (with some of the hairs biseriate-celled).

Guerrero (between Milipillas and Atoyac de Alarex, Croat 14625c, MO) and Jalisco (10 mi S W of Autian, Crum 1281, F, G, MICH, S, US).—Mexico; Honduras to southeastern Brazil.
