Description
Species Description - Plants robust, pale-green to yellowish or red-brown, sometimes blackish-tinged. Secondary stems up to 30 cm long. Stem leaves loosely imbricate to wide-spreading, 1.2-2 x 0.6-1 mm, cucullate-concave, broadly oblong-ovate, auriculate at basal angles; margins entire; apical cells 4—11 x 1.5-4 µm; median cells 11-21 x 1.5-2.5 µm; basal cells pitted, 7-20 x 3-5 µm; alar cells quadrate, thick-walled, and yellow-brown in well-marked groups, the cells of the auricles linear, 9-18 x 1-1.5 µm. Branches tumid, up to 5 cm long. Branch eaves 1-2.5 x 0.5-1.2 mm; apical cells 4-13 x 1.5-4µm; edian cells 9-25 x 1.5-2.5 µm; basal cells 5-20 x 1.5-4 µm; uricular cells 5-18 x 1-1.5 µm. Setae 5-11 mm long, rough above; capsules 1.5 mm long.

Pendent from branches oftrees at moderate elevations; Chiapas, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Puebla, San Luis Potosf, Tamaulipas, Veracruz.—Mexico to northern South America and the West Indies.
