Description
Species Description - Caespitose epiphytes with pendent compressed stems to 45 cm long. Leaves several, ovate-elliptic, emarginate, graduating in size, to 17 X 8 cm, with sheathing leaf bases to 4 X 2 cm. Inflorescences terminal, sessile racemes completely hidden by base of terminal leaf, 1 flower open at a time. Flowers greenish-white with or without pink suffusion, borne on long pedicel and ovary to 16 cm; sepals lanceolate, acute, recurved, to 55 X 10 mm; petals linear-lanceolate, acute, to 52 X 7 mm; lip 3-lobed, to 38 mm long, the lateral lobes broadly falcate, to 24 X 11 mm, the midlobe linear, to 3.2 X 1 mm. Fruits ellipsoid, long-pedunculate.
Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Jan). This species has been included in a very broad concept of E. nocturnum Jacquin and has been known under the name E. latifolium (Lindley) Garay & Sweet.
