    Species Description - Caespitose epiphytes with wiry, erect stems to 30 cm tall. Leaves several on upper half of stem, linear, minutely 3-dentate, to 10 X 0.4 cm. Inflorescences terminal, subsessile, distichously flowered racemes with closely imbricate brown floral bracts to 7 X 5 mm. Flowers largely concealed by floral bracts, white, only partially opening; sepals lanceolate, acute, concave, 3.7-4 X 1.4-1.7 mm, the lateral sepals conforming to saccate lip base; petals linear, dilated and 3-lobulate at apex, 3.7 X 0.7 mm; lip broadly obovate, fringed, tubular, basally saccate, the calli paired globular basal, 4 X 5 mm; column short, with small wings towards base. Fl (Aug, Sep, Dec), fr (Jan, Sep, Oct, Jul). This taxon has been misidentifled previously throughout most of its range as the Andean E. linifolius Presl.
