    Genus Description - Erect epiphytes with usually compressed oblong-ovoid pseudobulbs subtended by foliaceous bracts, more or less aggregate on stout rhizome. Leaves 1-3 per pseudobulb, conduplicate, elliptic-oblong to oblong-oblanceolate, subcoriaceous. Inflorescences few- to many-flowered racemes from axils of upper foliaceous bracts, erect to arching. Flowers showy, fragrant, subtended by inconspicuous bracts; sepals subsimilar, free, spreading, acuminate to long-caudate; petals subequal to dorsal sepal or noticeably shorter; lip entire to obscurely 3-lobed, sessile, broader than other segments, adnate to base of column, with basal pair of calli; column short, erect, footless, wingless; pollinia 2, waxy.
