  • Description

    Species Description - Plants to 1.7 m tall. Leaves with distinct, ± hirtellous, annular thickening at base of pulvinus; blade with apex distinctly displaced to one side. Inflorescences not distinctly congested, usually subtended by a normal leaf. Flowers: corolla lobes greenish; inner staminodes greenish; outer staminode sometimes bluish.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fls (Feb, Apr, Dec in other parts of French Guiana, old inflorescences persist for most of the year); disturbed sites in primary and secondary forests, often on poorly drained ground.
